SSE Airtricity has landed the title sponsor of RTE's DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland, with the deal set to run for two years.
The new sponsor plan to roll out a "show your home some love" campaign from April, encouraging the public to invest in energy-efficient improvements from SSE Airtricity’s Generation Green Home Upgrade.
The show, which was originally aired in the UK and running for 26 seasons, was a big hit with Irish audiences during the lockdown.
Now entering its second season, with Baz Ashmawy once again at the helm, Airtricity plan to support Baz and the crew at locations across the country transforming each home in just nine days thanks to the generosity of volunteers, tradespeople, and supplier donations.
Welcoming the launch of this new partnership David Manning, Marketing Director at SSE Airtricity said: "We are enormously proud to be involved in the new season of DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland on RTÉ One.
"At SSE Airtricity, our mission is to bring our customers on a journey to make greener choices by providing them with a full range of low carbon solutions and this sponsorship presents a meaningful opportunity to demonstrate the green energy products and solutions we provide."
Elizabeth O’Gorman, producer of RTÉ’s DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland at Motive Television added: "We are delighted to have SSE Airtricity on board for season two and three of the show. Their participation really reinforces the strength of the show and will mean that Baz and the team can bring more smiles to families across Ireland.
"Through relying on generosity of individuals in the community each episode provides a catalyst to show the good in people and allows the Irish audience to look at everything in a slightly more positive prism."
The first episode of DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland series two is scheduled to air in April on RTÉ One.
Gerry McGuinness, Commercial Partnerships Manager RTÉ said; "We are delighted that SSE Airtricity have come aboard with DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland. RTÉ is proud to broadcast such a popular series that helps to transform peoples’ lives and lifts the hearts of Irish viewers. With SSE Airtricity’s support we look forward to another heartwarming and inspiring season."
