Starbucks now available through Deliveroo

Starbucks has partnered with Deliveroo for home delivery from more than 60 outlets covering Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford, DundalkDrogheda and Naas.

Deliveroo customers will be able to order Starbucks beverages, sandwiches, wraps, juices and merchandise for delivery through the app for a standard delivery charge, or free for Deliveroo Plus subscribers.

Deliveroo recently expanded its service to Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Kildare, Louth and Meath after launching in Waterford last August.

"We are extremely excited that the iconic coffeehouse Starbucks has chosen to offer home delivery on Deliveroo," Paddy Quinlan, regional manager for Deliveroo Ireland, said.

"We are constantly looking to bring more choice to our customers and this partnership means customers will be able to enjoy Starbucks premier specialty coffee, beverages and food, delivered to their door in under 30 minutes."

Starbucks food and drink is now available to order through Deliveroo.

The latest available financial results for Deliveroo Ireland show that the company made a profit of €562,904 in 2020 after making a loss of €295,211 the previous year.

Gross profit rose 192% year-on-year from €2.9m to €8.4m as revenues from operations increased 91% from 13.8m to €26.3m as a result of surging demand brought about by the pandemic, and the company saw its net assets increase to €3.2m by the end of 2020.

Deliveroo is led in Ireland by Carlo Mocci, formerly of Amazon and McKinsey, who was installed as chief business officer for the UK and Ireland in later 2020, reporting directly to Deliveroo CEO Will Shu.

Deliveroo took 147.7m orders in the UK and Ireland worth £3.6bn (€4.3bn) in gross transactional value during the 2021 financial year, representing increases of 71% and 72%, respectively.

The value of the average order was £24.20 (€28.90), and the company now has 8m active monthly users in the region.

A survey of 1,000 commissioned by Deliveroo and conducted by Censuswide found that 23% of Irish people drink coffee more than once a say, with Munster judged to be the province that most favours coffee on a per capital basis.

The favourite coffee of Irish customers is a cappuccino (22%) closely followed by a latte (18%), while oat and almond (both 5%) are the most favoured plant-based alternatives to milk.
