This year’s Sandyford Innovation Summit on September 27 and 28 will focus on the drive to a decarbonised future, according to organisers Sandyford Business District.

The event, a continuation of SBID’s Innovation Forum, will have a twin focus: on day one, the theme will be e-mobility and decarbonisation trends, with day two spotlighting the role of technology in the decarbonisation agenda and the “real and practical” energy solutions available.

Test drives on both days will feature “the best in sustainable transport options currently available and in the pipeline” including Tesla, Polestar, Audi, Jaguar and a variety of e-bikes and scooters.

The free event takes place at the newly renovated Pavilion at Leopardstown Racecourse, with exhibition space for district suppliers in the ‘multi-modality’ sector which offer the sustainable transport options.

Getting there will underline the over-arching theme, as patrons will be encouraged to park a kilometre from the venue and use a range of green transport options, including e-scooters, e-bikes and a Green Bus to get to the Pavilion itself.

SBID chief executive Ger Corbett said: “We recognise that businesses demand a new way of thinking in order to stay up with the vast policy and legislative changes under way, which are designed to facilitate the decarbonisation agenda.

“As the representative body for Sandyford, we are acutely aware of how these impacts will be felt across business operations and we are consequently focused on delivering value-added strategic insights and advice to our members to best prepare them for these changes.

“To that end, this year’s Innovation Summit sessions are loaded with important insights on how the businesses of the district can seamlessly transition to a more decarbonised future, how technology will enable it, and the solutions available in the district.”
