Mayo-based retail software company CBE is to add 40 jobs to its workforce, following the firm’s UK expansion and recent contract wins. The expansion is being supported by taxpayers through payments from Enterprise Ireland.
Headquartered in Claremorris and established in 1980, CBE develops and supplies point of sale (POS) solutions for the retail and hospitality sectors. The firm’s has been busying itself with overseas growth in recent years and now support installations in Canada, Australia, The Isle of Man and Algeria, with plans to also enter the US market.
Selling mainly to the independent retail groups and hospitality markets, CBE’s client list includes James Hall Group (UK), Sewell Retail (UK), SuperValu, Centra, Compass and IBM.
Gerard Concannon (pictured), CBE’s CEO, said that his company’s latest software solutions have enjoyed strong success, primarily in the UK, since it was launched last year.
“We have also recently formed a strategic partnership with NCR to supply self-checkout solutions to the independent retail sector in Ireland and the UK,” he added.
Selling mainly to the independent retail groups and hospitality markets, CBE’s client list includes James Hall Group and Sewell Retail in the UK, Musgrave, SuperValu, Centra, BWG, Spar, Mace, Costcutter, Gala, Spar UK, Louis Fitzgerald Group, Aramark, Elior, Compass, IBM and Bewleys.
CBE plans to be employing 150 people by the end of 2017. The new roles will be within software development, customer support, sales and service.
Central Business Equipment Ltd booked a loss of €327,000 in the year to April 2014. Year-end liabilities amounted to €1.8m compared with €2.3m a year earlier, and year-end net worth was €1.4m.
