Health food franchise Chopped continues its rapid expansion today with the opening of an outlet in Rathmines in Dublin, which will create 20 new jobs.

The outlet is located on the Lower Rathmines Road and has seating for over 20 people. It follows hot on the heels of Chopped store openings in Mulhuddart and Grafton Street.

Brian Lee (pictured), co-founder and managing director of Chopped, said that more eateries will be opening in Tallaght and Sandyford, as well as other locations. The expansion plan will bring the number of Chopped employees to 320 by the end of 2016.

Lee added: “We’ve seen parents across the country campaigning against fast food near schools and for better lunch options for students, so we’re delighted to open our new franchise so close to St. Mary’s secondary school.”

The rapid expansion of Chopped over the past year has seen the company named Ireland’s ‘Best Emerging Franchise’ at the Irish Franchise Awards in April, and Brian Lee named as a finalist in the ‘Best Emerging Entrepreneurs’ category at the 2016 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.

Chopped was founded in 2012 by Brian Lee and Andy Chen, with a focus on fresh and healthy salads, sandwiches and wraps. Rathmines is the seventh Chopped franchise to open in Dublin since the company was founded.
