Connolly Motor Group is to invest €4.5m in a new motor dealership in Sligo, which will create 20 jobs for Collooney.
Connolly Motor Group was recently appointed as main dealers for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. The company said that its planned Collooney venture will be one of the largest and most high-tech Mercedes-Benz dealerships in the country.
The new jobs will increase the number of full-time employees at the Connolly Motor Group to 183. Run by brothers Kevin and Neil Connolly (pictured), the group already has Audi and Volkswagen dealerships in Sligo and Ballina, as well as the Audi dealership in Galway.
Connolly Motor Group now has responsibility for Mercedes-Benz sales and after-sales services covering the North West region. The group bought a new 20,000 sq. ft. premises for the Collooney dealership, which will have showroom space to display up to 15 cars.
The facility, which was designed by Simon Beale and Associates, will also have a 10-bay workshop featuring high-tech equipment, including four-wheel alignment and the latest diagnostic computers.
Said Neil Connolly: “We are happy to be breathing new life into a building that had been lying vacant in Collooney. It is also a great sense of pride that one of the first thing visitors will see driving into Sligo is a brand such as Mercedes-Benz, as it shows great confidence in the county and the region.”
