A new centre of excellence for artificial intelligence will create 200 high-skilled jobs in Galway over the next three years.
The facility is being developed by Genesys, the US multinational tech firm that bought Altocloud earlier this year.
Genesys specialises in customer experience and contact centre software. It said that the 200 new jobs will be based at its (former Altocloud) office in Galway.
Positions on offer will include a variety of senior and high-skilled roles, spanning R&D, machine learning, software engineering, user experience and data science.
Genesys’s new facility will serve as an R&D hub for customer experience AI.
Around 20 staff were employed by Altocloud when Genesys bought the firm earlier this year. Co-founded by Dragons’ Den star Barry O’Sullivan (pictured) in 2013, Altocloud sold cloud-based customer engagement software.
Genesys said that it has doubled Altocloud’s headcount since acquiring the firm. O’Sullivan has also remained on board with the firm.
Its plan to hire 200 more staff will involve the firm working with third-level institutes in Ireland to find graduates with technical and data science skills.
Just prior to the announcement of Altocloud’s acquisition in February 2018, the firm raised €3.7m from investors that included Enterprise Ireland (€500,000) and US software firm Five9 (€1.1m).
Genesys is being backed by IDA Ireland for its Galway AI centre plans.
“Ireland has a rich base of technical talent and is a tremendous place to do business,” said Paul Segre, CEO of Genesys. “That’s why Galway is the perfect location for our global centre of excellence for customer experience AI. We couldn’t be more excited to continue our growth and create quality jobs in Ireland.”
