IBM has announced 110 new jobs in Dublin, Cork and Galway. The roles will be in IBM’s lab spaces and will focus on cloud-based social collaboration and human resources analytics. Experienced and graduate computer scientists will be hired in the next few weeks.

"The Ireland lab together with our research and development labs around the world are helping companies tap into the power of social networking to transform the way they work and innovate over their competitors," said IBM's Debbie Landers. “By combining social, behavioural science and analytics in the cloud, we give businesses a clear path to empower their most valued asset – employees.”

IBM provides analytics and HR solutions for employers. Its Smarter Workforce programme was launched in 2013 after acquiring Kenexa for $1.3 billion. Kenexa was made up of a number of employment management software companies. IBM aimed to position itself as a leading HR and talent management solutions provider.

HR analytics allow employers to use detailed data to attract and develop talent. Many businesses fail to take advantage of data insights available to them.

Social collaboration software like Slack and AffinityLive allow employees to communicate over a private social platform, making collaboration and project management easier. Social collaborations and HR analytics are said to allow businesses to create and maintain smarter workforces.

IBM has been in Ireland since 1956 and employs 3,000 people.
