Investec is to open a new office in Cork city, creating ten jobs as a result. The specialist banking and asset management group already employs 240 in its Dublin office.
Investec’s new premises will be located at One Albert Quay in Cork and will be staffed by a locally hired team.
Ciaran Whelan, the Irish-born global head of Investec specialist banking, said that Cork was a natural next step in which to expand the firm. “It houses many of the world’s leading companies in technology and pharmaceuticals. Having doubled our headcount in Ireland over the past few years, our next challenge is to help firms in Ireland experience similar growth,” he added.
Aisling Dodgson, head of treasury at Investec, said that there are now more entrepreneurs in the South West than in any of the other regions of the country.
She continued: “The South West not only opens up the FDI firms for business, but also local, Irish indigenous companies created by those entrepreneurs. As the economy grows, Cork and the South West will benefit from disproportionate growth given the level of entrepreneurship within the region.”
