Engineering software company MathWorks has 20 jobs on offer coming up to Christmas and intends to add 65 more jobs to its tally next year.

The Galway office provides centralised sales and services support to the company’s operations throughout the EMEA and the company wants candidates offering IT experience and fluency in several European languages.

The company’s staff in Galway provide customer services in eleven European languages. The new jobs are being part-funded by taxpayers through grant aid from IDA Ireland.

MathWorks had an initial focus on sales and support job functions to support the EMEA region, but today it embraces customer-facing roles including sales and services support, inside sales, channel development and support, marketing, and finance and administration.

Most recently, the office expanded to include a team of ‘Customer Success Specialists’ who focus entirely on helping customers realise the return on their investment in its software products MATLAB and Simulink.

Managing director Richard Haxby said: “The growing job opportunities in our Ireland office are a testament to the success of our new staff in delivering for our customers throughout the EMEA in our first two years.

“We are confident that we will have a strong pipeline of candidates to fill these jobs quickly, given the overwhelmingly positive feedback we receive on our collaborative culture, competitive compensation, excellence in staff development and potential to explore global career opportunities.”

The global company creates mathematical computing software. MATLAB is a programming environment for algorithm development, data analysis, visualisation, and numeric computation.  Simulink is a graphical environment for simulation and Model-Based Design for multi-domain dynamic and embedded systems.

According to MathWorks, engineers and scientists worldwide rely on these product families to accelerate the pace of discovery, innovation, and development in automotive, aerospace, electronics, financial services, biotech-pharmaceutical, and other industries. MATLAB and Simulink are also fundamental teaching and research tools in the world's universities and learning institutions.
