Munster fuel retailer Amber has opened its new site in Charleville, which cost €3m and forms part of an almost €8m investment programme by the company. The 500 sq. m. site will support 38 full- and part-time jobs, bringing the total workforce in the Amber group to over 250.
Amber Petroleum was established in Fermoy in 1980 by the Fitzgerald family and now supplies 45 sites across nine counties. Other projects within Amber’s investment programme included the upgrading of sites in Fermoy, Glounthaune and Horse & Jockey, and the development of a new site in Tipperary town.
Commenting on the expansion, Liam Fitzgerald, MD of Amber, said: “We’ve had our eye on Charleville for some time. Our team has vast experience in analysing a site for the necessary conditions for success and we feel that Charleville has ticked all the boxes.”
The new service station offers fuel, a seated restaurant, parking, toilet facilities, an ATM and a solid-fuel centre, with car wash facilities due to open in the coming weeks.
Fitzgerald continued: “As a family-run business, we have always insisted on family values within Amber, facilitating the fostering of strong long-term relationships with customers, suppliers and staff.
“This ethos has served us well and has brought strong growth opportunities to us over the last three years. I am thrilled with the result.”
