Nightline Is Hiring 150 Staff – Thanks To Eircodes

Parcel delivery firm Nightline is to add 150 staff to its workforce as part of a €3m expansion plan – and the company is crediting the much maligned Eircode system for making it possible.

John Tuohy (pictured), Nightline’s founder and CEO, said that the implementation of Eircodes had “greatly improved” his business’s efficiency. “It has allowed us to enhance our customer delivery experience,” he added.

E-commerce growth is also paying off for Nightline, which has seen an increase in the volume of subscribers to its Parcel Motel service, which allows users to specify a delivery/pickup locker for good bought online.

John Tuohy continued: “As we near a quarter of a century in business we continue to enjoy consistent and sustained growth at Nightline. With the heavy demand for online shopping we are seeing a strong and steady need for parcel and delivery services, and this expansion is in line with the desire to continually give our growing customer base a first-class service.”

The 150 new jobs will include positions delivery drivers, depot support staff and sortation shift staff, spread across Nightline’s various locations in Ireland.

Nightline is launching a new premium services for its customers, which includes same day, evening and weekend deliveries. As a result of the €3m investment, the firm opened three new depots, in Swords, Co. Dublin, Omagh, Co. Tyrone and Kilbarry, Co. Waterford.

Commenting on the announcement, jobs minister Mary Mitchell O’Connor said: “At the moment, Ireland has one of the fastest growing employment rates in Europe, and it is home-grown companies such as Nightline which are helping to sustain this. I am particularly pleased that this expansion will lead to job growth in regions around Ireland.”

Established in 1992, Nightline is celebrating 24 years in business this year. The company is Ireland’s largest independent parcel delivery business, servicing the domestic and international markets from 13 Irish depots. It delivers upwards of 14 million parcels a year and employs more than 1,000 people.
