Oracle is to hire 450 staff for its operations in Dublin, which is part of a drive to expand its EMEA workforce by 1,400.
The firm’s Irish jobs expansion is being backed by the IDA. According to Dermot O’Kelly, senior VP for Oracle UK and Ireland, the 450 roles will be for cloud sales professionals.
“This is a great opportunity for people with a passion for selling the cloud or a burning ambition to do so,” he added.
Martin Shanahan, CEO of IDA Ireland, said: “Oracle’s presence here for over 30 years forms part of Ireland’s strong ICT sector. This important announcement of 450 new cloud computing roles will greatly enhance Ireland’s reputation as a location of choice for cloud computing.”
Additional recruitment across EMEA will be focused on five further locations: Amsterdam (The Netherlands); Cairo and Dubai (Middle East); Malaga (Spain) and Prague (Czech Republic).
The company said that in addition to hiring the very best talent from the above locations, it is keen to draw recruits with a range of experience from across the EMEA region, from highly motivated sales professionals with two to three years’ experience to highly experienced senior sales professionals.
Cloud Portfolio
The move to recruit 1,400 new cloud sales professionals into its EMEA inside sales operation follows a multi-billion dollar investment from Oracle in developing its portfolio of cloud computing services.
“Oracle currently offers more than 600 different cloud applications which combined with its comprehensive on-premise hardware and software offering, creates the opportunity to help organisations seamlessly manage their overall enterprise computing environment while helping them transition to the cloud,” said Oracle president Loic Le Guisquet.
Over the past six months, Oracle added nearly 1,500 new software as a service (SaaS) customers and more than 2,100 platform as a service (PaaS) customers.
Le Guisquet added: “These are exciting times for Oracle. We are extending our sales force to support our customers through their digital transformation. Starting today we are hiring 1,400 sharp, ambitious inside sales professionals across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“I want socially savvy, switched on individuals who can help customers respond to the digital imperative and make their businesses future proof. We’re looking for people who want to be relevant to the biggest trends shaping business and technology. Anybody looking to make a real impact with their career in technology should come and join Oracle, The Cloud Company.”
Dermot O’Kelly, Senior Vice President for Oracle UK and Ireland, added: “This is a great opportunity for people with a passion for selling the cloud or a burning ambition to do so who want to further their career with the company that is doing the most to shape cloud and the way it serves innovative businesses around the world.”
