Shopify Wants 50 Gurus For New Galway Operation

Cloud-based commerce platform Shopify is to establish customer service operations in Galway, for which it is looking to hire 50 people by early 2016.

Shopify is headquartered in Canada and its e-commerce platform is designed for SMEs that want to set up and manage their stores across multiple channels.

The firm employs over 600 people and its cloud services are used by over 165,000 stores in 150 countries. Notable clients include Budweiser, Google and Wikipedia.

Shopify said that it is looking for 'Gurus' -- its term of endearment for customer support agents -- to work remotely in the Galway region.

Roy Sunstrum, director of customer support with Shopify, said that the firm's 24/7 customer support is a crucial part of its business model.
