Tesco Ireland has announced Natasha Adams will replace Kari Daniels as CEO when she steps down at the end of April.
The retailer, Ireland's joint-second largest supermarket chain in terms of grocery market share, said Adams would report to Irish-born Tesco Group CEO Ken Murphy in the UK when she takes over.
Adams (pictured), who was born in Kerry, is currently chief people officer of the Tesco Group, and will move back to Ireland to take on the role.
"Natasha has made an outstanding contribution in her role as Chief People Officer, and her appointment to the new role of Chief Executive Officer, Tesco ROI, recognises the breadth of that contribution," said Murphy.
"I have no doubt she will bring the same blend of strategic thinking and people-centricity as she leads our Irish business into an exciting future."
Tesco recently announced plans to buy the chain of 10 Joyce's Supermarkets in Galway, pending regulatory approval.
In a recent trading statement, Tesco said like-for-like sales in Ireland were down 3.3% in the third quarter compared to the same period in 2020 when supermarkets were one of the main beneficiaries of the pandemic, but up 7.8% from 2019.
The company currently has a 22.2% share of the Irish grocery market, tied with SuperValu but lagging behind Dunnes Stores (23.2%), according to Kantar.
