Footwear retail brand ‘The Athlete’s Foot’ (TAF) is officially launching its first Irish outlet this week. The store, located on Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork, employs three full-time staff and is one of three TAF stores in the pipeline for Ireland.
TAF said that the Irish store openings will create 28 jobs this year. Elverys Intersport is operating the franchise in Ireland.
TAF was founded in Pennsylvania in the US in 1971 and the firm was acquired by Swiss-based Intersport International in 2012. The TAF franchise extends to over 470 stores in 26 countries worldwide.
Tom Maher, store manager of TAF in Cork, said: “We’re really excited about the Cork store, and bringing really stylish sportswear, as well as exclusives in Ireland such as the Rihanna Puma line, to the market here.”
