Many Ukrainian refuges relocating to Ireland have professional skills though a majority find language a barrier to finding employment, according to a CSO analysis.

Of the arrivals from Ukraine who have attended Intreo events and volunteered information about previous work experience, one-third describe themselves as ‘Professionals’.

Since April, Intreo Public Employment Services (of the DSP) have been arranging employment support events for arrivals from Ukraine and those events have been attended by 13,514 arrivals.

Of the persons who attended Intreo events, two-thirds were noted with English language proficiency being a challenge in securing employment, though the same proportion have an NFQ level equivalent to 7 or higher in terms of education attainment.

The CSO has counted 9,645 people at Intreo events who have detailed their previous work experience.
