YourPro, a European technology platform for hiring tradespeople, has launched in Ireland, and the company aims to sign up 600 tradespeople this year.

The service will initially be available in the greater Dublin area with plans to expand nationwide, and the firm said it is investing €1m to establish its presence in Ireland and employ staff locally.

YourPro launched in Greece in 2015 before expanding to Cyprus and Portugal and claims to have helped more than 350,000 customers find qualified plumbers, painters, electricians, gardeners, and carpenters to carry out urgent repairs, home improvements and renovation services.

The company said it already has more than 300 specialists and qualified tradespeople active on its platform, and that it hopes to reach 600 by the end of the year.

"Ireland is a market we have been focused for some time now for lots of reasons. There is a strong pool of high-quality professional tradespeople who are tech savvy, and the Irish home improvement, urgent repairs and renovation market is estimated to be worth €3.2 billion annually," Andreas Grammatis, founder and CEO of YourPro, said.

"Having trialled our services in central Dublin at the end of 2021, we saw a tremendous response from consumers and tradespeople, with over 4,500 jobs posted on the platform already.

“We’re now expanding right across new home services categories and we’re already seeing significant appetite from tradespeople seeking not just a listing on a website, but a strategic partner who can enable them to grow and develop their business.

"Already our registered tradespeople are gaining efficiencies across their job schedules allowing them to take on more work without compromising quality and standard of services which is a win for the tradespeople as well as customers."

Grammatis added that YourPro technology and staff have helped tradespeople to increase their sales by 20-30%, and that the company is confident of repeating such results in Ireland.

"By removing low-value administrative tasks that can eat into the day of tradespeople we enable them to focus on the jobs at hand and increase their capacity," he said. This is good news for Irish consumers also who can access skilled, professional, and reliable tradespersons who can meet their home improvement needs.”

There are over 90 job categories of trades available on YourPro, including renovations, cleaning services, pest control, tiling, painting, plumbing, and general repairs.

A survey by YourPro found that 44% of Irish people plan to spend up to €3,000 on home renovations in the next 12 months, but a quarter of respondents (25%) complained that it can take up to a month for a tradesperson to come to their home.
