Managing partners of some of Ireland’s top firms tell Ben Haugh about the biggest legal challenges that businesses should be aware of this year.

ACTIVITY

Trading in the last 12 months has been very positive but we can see a clear increase from January 2025 in the commercial challenges facing clients, with a significant increase in insolvency advice to the SME sector in recent months.

Our offices continue to receive significant instructions in the area of company law and shareholder disputes. We have acted in some of the seminal recent legal cases in this area in the High Court and we continue to receive instructions from accountants nationwide on behalf of their client base.

CHALLENGES

Businesses by their very nature need to continuously evolve and react to market conditions. As commercial solicitors we continue to navigate clients through the commercial and legal ramifications of day-to-day commercial problems in business as they arise while also seeking to pre-empt the future legal issues.

OUTLOOK

We see Ireland and Dublin as a very good place to do business and for commerce in general terms but the Irish market and Europe in general have to be most conscious of continuing developments from the USA, which will have huge ramifications over the next 18 months.

Hughes & Associates Solicitors in recent weeks has been awarded the accolade from Corporate INTL of Insolvency Law Firm of the Year Ireland. We see this is an endorsement of our position in the legal market as a commercial law firm based in Temple Bar in the heart of Dublin city
