Cornmarket, Ireland’s largest public sector financial services broker, has completed the acquisition of Marsh Ireland’s personal lines insurance business in a deal that strengthens its position in both the public and consumer insurance markets.
The acquisition will see Cornmarket integrate Marsh Ireland’s personal lines insurance customers, which covers motor, home, travel and van products.
All of Marsh’s existing personal insurance customers will now transition to Cornmarket policyholders.
The move expands Cornmarket’s workforce to more than 500 employees across Ireland and the UK, while significantly broadening its reach beyond its traditional base of public sector clients.
Cornmarket currently works with more than 40 public sector trade unions, associations and employers, negotiating preferential financial products and services for over 240,000 customers nationwide.
The deal follows a series of recent acquisitions by Cornmarket, including Penpro, EIS Financial Services and K.D. Retirement Services Ltd.
It marks the latest step in the company’s strategy to scale up operations and diversify its offering, adding depth to its existing 430,000 policies while positioning itself for growth in the wider consumer insurance market.
Ivan Ahern, Managing Director at Cornmarket, said: “This acquisition represents a key milestone in our strategy to scale and diversify our business.
“By welcoming Marsh’s personal lines insurance customers into the Cornmarket family, we are not only expanding our reach but also enhancing the depth of service we can offer.
“This deal underlines our commitment to growth through value-driven partnerships and reinforces our commitment to providing trusted, tailored financial solutions to individuals across Ireland.”
With more than 50 years in the Irish market, Marsh Ireland has built a large client base that will now transfer under the Cornmarket umbrella.

The company confirmed that all affected customers have been notified of the change.
The acquisition is expected to further strengthen Cornmarket’s market leadership as it seeks to balance its public sector focus with a growing presence in the broader consumer insurance space.
