AventaMed, a Cork medical device company established in August 2013, has raised €955,000 from private investors in a charter funding round that the company says brought in €1.3m.

The founders, pictured, are CEO Olive O’Driscoll (37) and CTO John Vaughan (35). AventaMed's first product is a novel ENT device for the placement of grommets. This device will place a grommet in seconds so the procedure can be carried by GPs without the need for an anaesthetic.

An allotment document filed in September 2015 discloses angel equity investment totalling €955,000, with Medtech Syndicate investing €525,000, Irrus Investments €230,000 and Boole Nominees €135,000. AventaMed is currently in the process of seeking regulatory approval its invention.
