Beats Medical, led by Ciara Clancy, has raised €325,000 from private investors and €250,000 from taxpayers through Enterprise Ireland for her mobile application that helps improve the mobility of Parkinson’s patients.

People using the app complete a two-minute assessment each morning, after which the app prescribes them with auditory cues tailored to their needs.

Clancy (pictured) started the venture straight out of TCD, and Senate candidate and businessman Sean Melly is chairman of the company’s board.

The private funding round, completed in December 2015, attracted investment from David Crampt0n (€100,000), Anthony Collins (€90,000), Peter Boylan (€50,000) and Jonathan Moran (€25,000). EI came on board in February 2016.

Beats Medical’s accountants are Devaney & Durkin and Maples and Calder assisted with the funding round.
