Brooke & Shoals, which makes fragrant candles in Greystones, has received €100,000 in taxpayer funding through an equity payment from Enterprise Ireland. The business, led by Alison Banton previously received EI funding of €50,000 in 2013.
Brooke & Shoals’ wax candles, home fragrance diffusers and natural body product range are sold in stores in Ireland and the UK and some outlets in Europe too.
The EI funding follows a €60,000 investment from Guy Banton effected last December.
Brooke & Shoals’ regular sized candles burn for up to 45 hours while the company’s travel size candles have a 20 hour burn time. Founder Alison Banton spent time in the Grasse Institute of Perfumery in France to study the complexities of fragrance creation.
Brooke & Shoals Fragrances Ltd booked a net profit of €26,000 in 2014 as year-end debtors increased from €44,000 to €94,000.
