Phoenix Recruitment has announced a €1m funding round, though the identity of the investors has not been disclosed.

The recruitment agency has offices in Limerick, Dublin and London, and the company said the funding will aid expansion plans into the US and further growth in the UK and Ireland this year.

Phoenix says it caters to Irish companies such as Wayflyer looking to expand into the US, but also in the UK and across Europe. The venture plans to establish its first US office in New York later this year.

The agency said it currently has 40 employees, and plans to increase headcount to 60 people by end of 2022. The company said it is currently seeking to hire  experienced recruitment professionals across tech, financial services and professional services.

Founded by Ed Rossiter in 2018, Phoenix Recruitment’s other shareholder directors are Ruth Lyndon and John Mahony.

Operating company Talent IQ Ltd booked a net profit of €214,000 in 2020, with period-end debtors rising from €69,000 to €331,000 year-on-year.

According to Rossiter (pictured): “Since founding Phoenix in 2018, we have scaled continuously through the pandemic, and are looking forward to carrying on with this growth, both nationally and internationally.

“Currently, we have our Dublin office, which we set up in 2018 at the time of our company’s inception, and since then we have opened up spaces in Limerick and London. We have grown from a team of two to 40 people over the course of the last three years and that has been due to the strength of our professional backgrounds, client relationships and vision to create a major global recruitment brand headquartered from Ireland."

Rossiter added that the company has assembled a board of advisors that includes Philip Gardiner, director at Foresight, and Giles Daubeney, the former Deputy CEO of Robert Walters.

Giles Daubeney commented: “Having built up a wealth of experience scaling Robert Walters from a single location business into a plc with 57 offices globally in 31 countries and 4,000 employees, I believe Phoenix can achieve similar success over the coming years.”

Ruth Lyndon stated: “Both Giles and Philp have impressive backgrounds and expertise that will be valuable as Phoenix continues along its expansion journey. I am looking forward to working with both individuals and seeing what the future holds for Phoenix.”
