Sonru, the Wexford company that markets its recruitment video interview platform to multinationals, has tapped Luxembourg private equity house Saphir Capital Partners for €500,000. SCP, led by John Penning, invested €1.5m in Sonru in July 2014 after the company had rounded up €170,000 from ten investors, including founder Ed Hendrick, who chipped in €39,000.

The Sonru platform has global potential but spreading the word doesn’t come cheap. The company has offices in London, Singapore and Sydney, and recently added a presence in Paris. Sonru booked a loss of €258,000 in 2013, bringing accumulated losses to €1.5m. Year-end creditors, including the Bank of Ireland Seed Fund, amounted to €1m and year-end net worth was a negative €788,000. Prior to the SCP investments, Sonru had raised €866,000.
