Belgium's SD Worx acquires Intelligo in Bray

Intelligo, Ireland’s leading HR & payroll software provider, has been acquired by Belgian payroll giant SD Worx for an undisclosed consideration.

Established 26 years ago, Intelligo products include MegaPay, MegaHR and MegaPay Outsourced, and the firm processes almost 40,000 payslips each month.

Based in the IDA Business Park in Bray, Intelligo employs 67 people has been the SD Worx payroll partner in Ireland for 16 years.

SD Worx chief executive Kobe Verdonck commented: “This existing relationship will help guarantee business continuity, and customers can benefit from the expanding SD Worx geographical scope, as well as access to the company’s broad HR offering.

“Having Intelligo join SD Worx further reinforces our ambition of being the leading European provider of integrated end-to-end HR solutions for all organisations and workers.

Intelligo Software Ltd is owned equally by founders Padraig Gill (53) and John Kellegher (57). Founding director Charles Alken left the board in 2012.

In 2021, the company booked a net profit of €810,000 and the two directors shared €720,000 in remuneration. Trade debtors doubled year-on-year to €1.1m and year-end net worth was €1.6m, including balance sheet cash of €2.3m.

The SD Worx group operates in 19 countries and has over 6,500 staff. In 2021, SD Worx reported annual turnover of €858m and booked a net profit of €47m. The group calculates the salaries of c.5 million employees and ranks among the top five payroll processors worldwide.
