Law firm Leman merges with offshore private equity specialist Ogier

Commercial law firm Leman Solicitors has merged with offshore law firm Ogier. From June the Dublin office will become Ogier Leman.

Ogier is active in the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Jersey and Luxembourg.

Its legal teams and corporate administration service provide a full service offering to private equity companies, their advisers and intermediary law firms, advising on a wide spectrum of fund structures and their regulatory and commercial issues.

Leman managing partner John Hogan said the merger will enable the Percy Place firm to consolidate its offering in Ireland, “with a growth plan that will deepen our thriving domestic capabilities and diversify and extend services to meet international client demand”.

Hogan (pictured above) added: “Together we will continue to deliver on our commitment to clients: offering a unique legal business that provides an outstanding client experience through the most efficient means.”

Hogan anticipates that Ogier Leman will scale up the practice in Ireland, in areas such as dispute resolution, corporate, real estate and employment services.

“At the core of our decision to find a merger partner has been the absolute requirement to retain and build on our fantastic Leman culture,” Hogan added.

“It's part of what makes us different, and we understand how it reflects into our positive, successful and enduring relationships with clients. We will be collaborating to define an even stronger culture as one firm in the coming months.”

Ogier was recently named Best Law Firm/Fund Domicile at the Private Equity Wire European Awards 2022.

Richard Daggett, who heads up Ogier's Private Equity team in Europe, said: “Approaching private equity holistically has been instrumental in our firm's growth in the sector. With more than 100 multi-disciplinary professionals in our global team, understanding how the private equity life cycle operates as a whole, and where our service lines interact with that life cycle, has resulted in a stronger, co-ordinated offering."

Ogier recently advised on Gazit Globe's €1.45bn acquisition of Atrium European Real Estate.
