Akara wins KPMG Global Tech Innovator Ireland competition

Akara, an AI company seeking to streamline hospital operations, has been named the winner of the KPMG Global Tech Innovator (GTI) Ireland competition for 2025.

The start-up uses AI-powered sensors, predictive analytics, and autonomous disinfection robots to improve hospital functions and "pave the way for the smart operating room of the future."

Now in its fifth year, the competition some of Ireland's emerging tech companies from across diverse sectors.

Akara will now advance to the global final in Lisbon this November. Niamh Donnelly, co-founder and CTO of Akara, will represent Ireland at this prestigious global competition, where she will compete alongside innovators from 21 other countries.

Donnelly will also receive mentorship from KPMG professionals and gain access to exclusive networking events within the tech community.
