Artificial Intelligence has predicted who the next Taoiseach is going to be.

The AI Institute has used artificial intelligence to predict the outcome of the general election.

The same programme was accurately used to predict the winner of the recent US presidential election weeks before the election.

According to Perplexity AI, Micheál Martin will be the next Taoiseach, while Fianna Fáil will secure the greatest number of votes.

The use of AI in helping to predict the outcome of elections is expected to become more common in the future.

The AI Institute has forecast that within the next four years, AI will become so integrated into everyday life that by the time of Ireland’s next general election, voters could be using AI tools to help them navigate their preferences and make more informed decisions.

Maryrose Lyons, founder of the AI Institute believes that AI is a tool to be used to inform but not necessarily influence.

She explained:"What we're seeing is just the beginning of AI's potential to enhance democratic participation.

"While AI will never replace human judgment in voting decisions, it can help voters better understand and align their values with candidates' positions.

"The key is ensuring these tools remain transparent, accessible, and serve to inform rather than influence.

"Our democracy will be strengthened when voters can make more informed choices based on comprehensive policy analysis."
