Aldi's Katie the Carrot has been appointed as the Irish women's rugby team's 'chief luck officer' ahead of the Women's Rugby World Cup.
Ireland take on Japan, Spain and New Zealand in the group stage of the tournament, and fans can now buy Katie the Carrot plush toys in Aldi stores nationwide for €4.99.
As Irish Rugby’s official fresh food partner, ALDI supports the Ireland women’s rugby and partners with stars of the game, including international players Linda Djougang and Béibhinn Parsons.
“I am delighted about Katie the Carrot’s appointment as Chief Luck Officer," said Parsons.
"As we prepare to take on the best teams in the world, it’s great to know that Katie will be there to bring the luck of the Irish. It’s shaping up to be a brilliant month for women’s rugby and we hope the entire country will get behind us!"
Girls’ participation in Aldi Play Rugby, a non-contact, primary school rugby programme developed by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) and supported by Aldi, has surged
by 54 per cent in just three years.

Participation numbers increase from 41,860 in 2022/23 to nearly 65,000 in 2024/25, and girls now make up 48% of all players in the programme.
