Amazon has officially launched its dedicated Irish website, Amazon.ie.

Amazon.ie customers can browse a selection of more than 200m products with prices in euro and avail of one-day delivery and returns options.

Irish businesses such as Barry's Tea, Bewley's and Ella & Jo will soon launch on Amazon.ie's Brands of Ireland page, a collaboration with Enterprise Ireland to help customers find local brands and help local businesses to scale.

Customers can also join Prime on Amazon.ie for €6.99 per month for free delivery and access to the Prime Video and Prime Gaming platforms as well as offers from partners such as Odeon Cinemas and Deliveroo.

Customers who already have Prime memberships with Amazon.co.uk can switch their subscription to Amazon.ie and will automatically have their UK Prime membership cancelled and refunded when they do so.

All customers, including those who are switching from a UK membership, can try Amazon.ie Prime by signing up for a 30-day free trial.

“Our teams across the country are unbelievably proud and incredibly excited to launch Amazon.ie,” said Alison Dunn, Ireland country manager at Amazon.

“The store brings a wide selection of great value products with fast delivery to customers in Ireland, a local Prime membership with incredible benefits and savings, and lots of opportunities for Irish businesses to reach more customers.

"We have been building towards this moment since the launch of our Fulfilment Centre in Dublin in 2022, and we can’t wait to write the next chapter of our story in Ireland.”

Amazon currently employs around 6,500 people in Cork, Dublin and Drogheda in roles across data engineering, operations management and finance.

The company estimates its direct investment in its Irish operations since 2004 at €22bn, and it now has a fulfilment centre in Baldonnell business park as well as a delivery station in Ballycoolin, data centres and two corporate offices in Dublin and Cork.

In 2023, Irish SMEs selling on Amazon recorded over €170m in export sales, more than €100m of which went outside the EU, and those businesses have gone on to create more than 2,500 jobs.

Amazon.ie is available on desktop and mobile browsers, as well as the Amazon mobile shopping app.

Commenting on the launch, Taoiseach Micheál Martin said: "This expansion by Amazon will give consumers more choice and better value, as well as help small, medium and large businesses across the country promote their own Irish and international products.

"By using Amazon, people know that they will get a well-trusted, great service. It’s good news for all.”

Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke added: "I welcome today’s news of the official launch of Amazon.ie. A dedicated Irish Store will enhance customer experiences in Ireland and provide a significant platform for Irish SMEs to expand their online presence and grow their business.

"Amazon.ie provides even more opportunities for Irish businesses to reach global markets and help create domestic jobs. Amazon is a significant contributor to the Irish economy and today’s announcement strongly underscores Amazon’s continued commitment to Ireland.”
