Bank of Ireland to invest €7m on branch improvements

Bank of Ireland will upgrade 22 of its branches across Ireland throughout 2025, with a €7m investment bringing a range of branch improvements.

The branch upgrades will take place in locations across Ireland, including 12 across Leinster, six across Munster, and four in Connacht & Ulster.

As part of this investment package customer areas will be refurbished, wheelchair access at branches will be improved at a number of locations, and colleague facilities will be upgraded.

New ATMs will be installed as part of the branch upgrades, with 14 new machines already installed in a number of branches.

These ATMs can be used for both withdrawals and lodgements, and will ‘recycle’ cash (i.e. cash deposited can be used for withdrawals).

This maximises ATM availability, supporting customers with better access to cash when required.

To support visually impaired customers, the new devices will have high-contrast screens and the option of plugging into an earphone socket so the user can be guided through their transaction by voice assistance.

Commenting on the ongoing investment in branch upgrades, Susan Russell, CEO of Bank of Ireland’s Retail Ireland division said: “Our branches are the cornerstone of our retail banking services, providing customers with the latest in banking technology and accessible and comfortable spaces to carry out their banking.

“I am delighted that 22 of our branches across Ireland will be upgraded this year, including state-of-the-art ATMs installed, ensuring we are providing customers with the most modern branch services available.

“This follows a programme of branch refurbishments last year, and we will continue to invest in our network which provides access to cash and other services to our customers.”
