CeADAR, Ireland’s national centre for applied AI, has reached a significant milestone, welcoming the 1,500th participant to its AI for You online training programme.

Designed specifically for Irish businesses and public sector organisations, the course helps participants build foundational AI knowledge while gaining a deeper understanding of key regulatory frameworks such as the EU AI Act.

Developed in collaboration with the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE), AI for You is fully funded and delivered through CeADAR’s European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) for AI – a programme supported by Enterprise Ireland and the European Commission.

Flexible and self-paced, the programme consists of five core modules covering:

  • Introduction to AI
  • Key AI concepts
  • Applications and societal impacts of AI
  • The future of AI
  • Governance and the EU AI Act

The EU AI Act, which came into force in August 2024, is the first legal framework of its kind globally.

It outlines requirements for both developers and users of AI technologies, ensuring responsible and ethical deployment across sectors.

Participants can register for the AI for You course directly via the CeADAR website.

The initiative is part of a broader European effort, with €700m invested across over 160 digital hubs in 30 countries.

CeADAR’s selection as Ireland’s EDIH for AI came with an initial €6m in joint funding from the EU and the Government of Ireland.

Minister Niamh Smyth, Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation, said: “I am very pleased with the success of the AI for You online course and I congratulate CeADAR on the achievement of enrolling the 1500th learner.

"This reflects the growing appetite for AI skills in Ireland but also our commitment to equipping citizens and businesses with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive in the digital age.”

Dr Ricardo Simon Carbajo, CeADAR’s Director of Innovation and EDIH for AI Programme Director, added: “This is a significant milestone and is contributing to companies and public sector organisation’s ability to understand and comply with the EU AI Act.
