A number of Irish firms have been turning heads at the CES tech show in Las Vegas.

The world's largest tech show has this year been focused on the impact of AI and sustainability.

But amongst the multi-nationals are a number of Irish start-ups showing off their wears.

One Irish firm making a splash in Las Vegas is Swippitt which has invented a toaster-like device that can charge your phone in just two seconds.

The game-changing device invented by Padraic Connolly from Galway has already received a number of "top 10 best new device" accolades.

Swippitt is compatible with iOS, Android, and all major phone models, but for launch the company are focused on the full range of iPhone models 14, 15, and 16.

Mr Connolly previously said of his product, which is expected to cost just over €400 when it launches later this year: "We've created a user-friendly, simple to use, fast, and sustainable way to keep phones powered, solving one of the biggest frustrations for cellphone users.

"Swippitt is the first Instant Power System of its kind, and we believe it will make a huge difference in people's lives. This technology will change how people think about battery management and help lead the way towards a smarter, simpler path to power cellphones."

Another Irish firm Peri has made the trip to the States to show off their wearable for women that accurately tracks perimenopause symptoms and provides actionable insights.

Founded in 2022 by Davis and Donal O’Gorman, Peri, previously called identifyHer, is worn under the breast and provides insights to guide women toward a personalised menopause management plan.

Earlier this year the company won the Enterprise Ireland High-Potential Start-Up (HPSU) Founder of the Year for 2024.

Limerick based start-up Provizio is also in Las Vegas to attract interest in its car safety technology which it plans to make it available to drivers by 2025.

Founded in 2019 by CEO Barry Lunn, Provizio has developed a five-dimensional perception system called 5D Perception that it claims can continually see, track and interpret vehicular behaviour and identify roadway elements – even during bad weather conditions.

The start-up is demonstrating the system’s capabilities on a specially equipped Land Rover at CES.
