Echelon Data Centres has officially launched two major data centre projects in Co Wicklow—DUB20 in Arklow and DUB30 at Kish Business Park.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin praised the €3.5bn investment as “the model for future data centre development in Ireland,” highlighting its focus on regional growth, renewable energy, and grid support.
Speaking at the launch, the Taoiseach emphasised that the facilities align with national energy and economic goals.
“These centres demonstrate responsible development—relieving pressure on the grid, supporting renewable energy, and boosting local employment,” Martin said.
Echelon's plans include integrating almost 1GW of wind energy to reinforce Ireland’s electricity grid, enhancing energy security and decarbonisation efforts.
The company is also investing in solar power, battery storage, and renewable fuels to further reduce reliance on fossil energy.
Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland, echoed the Taoiseach’s support: “Echelon embodies the sustainability goals of our Adapt Intelligently strategy. Their environmental commitment sets a strong example for industry.”
The projects are expected to create over 2,600 jobs during construction and 715 permanent roles.
A KPMG report forecasts up to €7.5bn in economic output during construction and €801m annually once operational.

For every €1 invested, €1.60 in wider economic activity is expected, with significant job creation across the supply chain.
Echelon’s Chief Operations Officer, Graeme McWilliams, said the developments reflect “responsible data centre growth that delivers lasting economic and environmental value.”
