Castlebar Chamber has hailed the inaugural Accelerate event, held on Wednesday, 3rd September at Breaffy House Resort, as a resounding success, drawing together leading voices from business, economics, and entrepreneurship to inspire and connect the region’s business community.
The evening attracted a capacity audience of business leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals from across Mayo and further afield.
Hosted by broadcaster and entrepreneur Ivan Yates, the event featured keynote insights from economist Jim Power and Oonagh O’Hagan, Managing Director of Meagher’s Pharmacy Group.
A panel discussion added further depth, with contributions from John O’Shea of Meissner, Dr. Orla Flynn of Atlantic Technological University (ATU), and Noel Brett of the Revenue Commissioners.
The strong turnout and lively discussions underscored the growing ambition of the region’s business sector.
Accelerate not only provided attendees with fresh perspectives on leadership, innovation, and resilience, but also facilitated valuable networking opportunities designed to spark collaboration and future growth.
The event’s success mirrors the upward trajectory of Castlebar Chamber itself.
Over the past two years, the organisation has experienced significant growth and is now recognised as one of the largest regional chambers in Ireland.
With a broad membership base and an increasingly influential voice, the Chamber has positioned itself as a key driver of enterprise and innovation in the west.
Reflecting on the journey, Anne Conlon, President of Castlebar Chamber and founder of All About Sales, said: “Castlebar Chamber has grown in strength and numbers over the past two years, becoming one of the largest regional chambers in Ireland.
“That growth reflects the determination of our members and the belief that together, we can shape a stronger business future for Castlebar and the wider region.”

Support from Mayo County Council, local TDs, councillors and Ministers was highlighted as instrumental in enabling initiatives such as Accelerate, emphasising the importance of collaboration in sustaining economic development.
Looking ahead, the Chamber confirmed that Accelerate will become an annual flagship event, reinforcing Castlebar’s standing as a centre for enterprise, growth, and innovation in the west of Ireland.
