Hospitality technology company Kappture will operate tills that use artificial intelligence at Oasis' Croke Park gigs this weekend.
The innovative tills will be deployed at the 330 Concourse in the Lower Hogan Stand at the sold-out reunion concerts on Saturday and Sunday (August 16-17) after being trialled at the All-Ireland Camogie Final last weekend.
The company's BRISK technology is an AI computer vision action tracking platform that offers instant payments and "a human-free checkout experience" with the objective of reducing long queues for food and drink at sporting and live events.
Kappture intends to develop other applications for BRISK, and earlier this year established operations at The Portershed in Galway, where it employs 20 people.
In addition to Croker, Kapture has worked with Thomand Park, Old Trafford, Etihad Stadium, Ascot, Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown racecourses, Celtic Park and Olympique Lyonnais' Groupama Stadium. BRISK was first deployed at Norwich City FC's Carrow Road ground.
The company is backed by Irish private equity first Renatus Capital Partners, whose director Mark Flood posted a video on LinkedIn of BRISK in action at Croke Park.
"BRISK allows you to get a pint inside five seconds, and it's going to revolutionise stadia all over the world," he said in a voiceover of the video, which shows him quickly paying for and taking a pint of stout.
"A real privilege for Renatus to be involved with KAPPTURE and to see this amazing innovation in action. We’ll be at the 330 Concourse in the Lower Hogan Stand for the Oasis gigs this Saturday and Sunday — if you’re there, drop by for a quick pint!" Flood wrote in a caption to the post.
"This clip was filmed at our launch last week during the All-Ireland Camogie Final at Croke Park — a truly special day for Galway and the Kappture teams."
Speaking in April when announcing the Galway expansion, Kappture chief technology officer Neil Haran described BRISK as "the world’s only solution that can take payments for food & beverages instantly with no human interaction.
"BRISK has global applications to remove the pain points of queues at live events, to make it a better experience for fans and more efficient for venue operators.
"Our ambition is to bring highly skilled talent to Galway and to increase its standing as a hub for AI, innovation and creativity.”
