AIB has renewed its sponsorship of the DCU Brexit Institute in a three-year agreement which will last until 2024.

Since its establishment in 2017, the Brexit Institute has positioned itself as a platform for documenting and debating developments in relations between the UK and EU.

Made up of experts from a number of faculties and schools at Dublin City University, connecting them with specialists in Ireland, the EU and beyond, it will continue to analyse the major legal, political and economic challenges raised by the withdrawal of the UK from the EU, and the future of Europe.

Director Prof Federico Fabbrini said: "The renewal of AIB’s sponsorship in the midst of an ongoing pandemic is the confirmation of the international reputation of the Brexit Institute as a thought leader on European affairs.

“In little over three years, the Institute has become a key source of research, policy and engagement on Brexit and the future of the EU, and AIB’s renewed support allows us to push further our work onto new cutting-edge topics, such as Next Generation EU and the rebuilding of Europe after the pandemic.”

AIB director of corporate affairs Mary Whitelaw added: “Brexit has brought many challenges to Irish businesses, including associated trade frictions, as well as presenting new opportunities for expansion.

“AIB is committed to backing our customers, and the Brexit Institute is a perfect example of how research, engagement and information can aid Irish businesses, policy makers and society as we all adapt to this new environment.”
