Virgin Media Ireland has appointed Aidan D’Arcy as Vice-President of Wholesale and Business.

In his new role, D’Arcy (pictured) will be responsible for the strategic growth and development of Virgin Media business, while also working closely with tech solutions and consumer functions.
The company said that role will also involve overseeing the expansion of Virgin Media’s full-fibre network - the focus of a current €200m investment by the company.
Virgin Media plans to provide wholesale opportunities by opening up third party access to the fibre broadband network.
Tony Hanway, CEO, Virgin Media Ireland, commented: “Aidan is a very accomplished executive who has made an excellent contribution across our organisation and the business markets we serve, delivering the fastest broadband speeds and connectivity solutions for entrepreneurs, businesses and the public sector throughout Ireland.
“His appointment reflects our commitment to fostering talent from within, recognising the hard work of our team members. His leadership skills will be essential for us as we pursue growth opportunities through the high speed connectivity we’re offering across our new full-fibre network.”
Virgin Media’s national fibre network upgrade is expected to take three years to complete. The upgrade will deliver speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second to one million premises nationwide.
