Amazon has cancelled plans to add more than 500 jobs at a proposed €300m AI testing and manufacturing facility in Dublin over a lack of guarantees about power supply.
The tech giant believed it has not received sufficient reassurance of adequate supply to proceed with the project.
The company had been in negotiations with ESB Networks over a connection for the plant from 2027 onwards.
ESB Networks confirmed it had been in "discussions" with Amazon about progressing a feasibility assessment.
It added that it had been "actively working" with Amazon to connect the facility "up until the decision was taken not to proceed in Dublin."
In a statement, Amazon said it was "disappointed that it did not prove possible to proceed with this project."
"If conditions allow, we do hope to be able to make other high-tech investments elsewhere in Ireland," it added.
In 2022, Amazon secured planning permission from Fingal County Council for the facility, which was to be located in Ballycoolin on the Dublin-Meath border, an area where there is already heavy electricity use by industry.

The plans for the 23,600 square metre site included 562 car parking spaces.
The company launched its Irish website, Amazon.ie, in March and has claimed to have made investments in Ireland worth €22bn since 2004. The firm employs 6,500 people in Ireland.
