Medical device designer and manufacturer Arrotek has announced plans to add up to 100 jobs after being granted permission to expand its Sligo headquarters by 20,000 sq ft.
The company is based at a purpose-built 50,000 sq ft facility with advanced manufacturing cleanrooms, laboratory and engineering offices in the medtech cluster at Finisklin business park.
The extension will house a mix of office and manufacturing spaces, and recruitment for the additional 100 positions, including design engineers and project managers and roles across quality, production, finance, customer service and administration, will begin immediately.
Mark Pugh and Ger O'Carroll founded the business in 2005 as an engineering service provider with focus on designing medical devices for other companies and experienced steady year-on-year growth before moving to the Finisklin site in 2019.
The "multi-million-euro" expansion announced on Tuesday comes shortly after Arrotek completed major recruitment drives in both 2020 and 2021, doublings its workforce and expanding its manufacturing offering to include a third cleanroom and new braiding, coiling and laser welding technologies.
"It is fantastic to see the growth of the business over the last 17 years, and it is extremely positive that a home-grown Sligo company has managed to grow into international markets and create high quality jobs for Sligo and the North West of Ireland," O'Carroll said.
"This is testament to the high-quality workforce that we currently have and will be recruiting into the future.”
Pugh added: "Since Ger and I set up the business back in 2005, we have focused on investing in the latest cutting-edge technologies to allow us to offer a service that is world-class.
"This current investment will allow us to further enhance our service offerings to all our current customers both start ups and multinationals, as well as grow into emerging markets.”
Arrotek said it is "committed to upskilling staff" through internal promotions, various education and training programmes, and that it promotes wellness through its "competitive" offering of flexible hours, hybrid working, health insurance, company pension scheme, and employee wellbeing workshops on topics such as mindfulness, nutrition and personal finances
