Buymie, the same-day grocery delivery platform, says it has the completed a €7m funding round, following on from the €8m financing the company raised in 2020.
The latest funding round was led by the company’s largest backers, including Grosvenor Food & AgTech, Act Venture Capital, Sure Valley Ventures, Haatch Ventures, and HBAN.
Other investors in this round include charter investors Keith Weed, former chief marketing and communications Officer for Unilever, and company chairman Eamonn Quinn.
Buymie CEO Devan Hughes (pictured) commented: “This latest round of funding follows the successful launch of our newest retail partnership with Asda across multiple cities in the UK.
“This capital will allow the business to continue its focus on developing best in class technology while helping our retail partners transform their online and in-store capabilities to better serve their customers and unlock growth opportunities.”
Keith Weed said the grocery retail landscape is being transformed by platform technology.
“It is very clear that the growth and margin opportunities of the future for retailers will be unlocked through capabilities facilitated by businesses and technology like Buymie,” he added.
He pointed to WPP’s recent launch of its own platform technology offering Every Mile to help brands better manage their direct-to-consumer offerings.
Buymie said the company now has 70 staff and a network of over 400 personal shoppers.
Buymie Technologies Ltd booked a loss of €3.2m in 2020, brining start-up losses since inception to €6m.
