Bulmers owner C&C Group has appointed Roger White as CEO, effective 20 January, replacing Patrick McMahon who stepped down earlier this year after the company had to restate three years of earnings due to accounting errors.
White was formerly CEO of the FTSE250-listed Irn Bru parent AG Barr from 2002 and until May, and he also held senior management positions at Rank Hovis McDougall Group from 1987 to 2002.
White is currently non-executive director at Warburtons and chair of the Beatson Cancer Charity. He was previously senior independent director of Troy Income and Growth Trust and non-executive director of William Jackson Food Group.
βIt is an exciting time to be joining the business. C&C has a unique business model, great brands and a committed team, with the potential to create significant long-term value," said White.
"I look forward to working with the Board and the wider team to lead C&C through the next phase of its development.β
Dublin-based C&C said White had been appointed following an extensive search process led by a nomination committee in conjunction with an independent executive search firm.
Interim CEO Ralph Findlay will return to the position of non-executive chair following a short period of transition after White joins the business. He will also resume the role of chair of the nomination committee.
βI am delighted to announce our recruitment of Roger and look forward to welcoming him to C&C and to the Board," said Findlay.
"An acknowledged high calibre leader, he will bring an exceptional combination of extensive branded drinks sector expertise, understanding of our markets and a proven track record of delivery.
"We look forward to working with Roger. His knowledge and insight will be of great relevance and invaluable to C&C as we continue the recent positive momentum underway within the business and progress our plans to deliver enhanced shareholder value.β

C&C said a one-off long-term incentive plan grant of 150% of White's base salary will be made on appointment, and the new CEO will have performance objectives linked directly to creating shareholder value.
The FTSE250 group's brands include Tennant's, Heverlee, Menabrea, Five Lamps and Orchard Pig, and it exports to more than 40 countries.
