Enterprise Rent-A-Car has announced it will sponsor Sunday's (30 October) Irish Life Dublin Marathon, the first to take place on the streets of the capital since 2019.

The car rental company will provide over 40 vehicles and a crew to support with signposting of the route as well as safety vehicles and logistics vehicles.

Enterprise will also provide 12 hybrid pace cars to lead runners as they set off to complete the course in the fastest possible time.

A further eight vehicles will be provided to transport casualties to the medical team facility, along with six stationary timing vehicles and 18 logistics vans. Some 1,500 stewards will oversee the record 26,000 entrants expected to take part this year.

"I am delighted to see the Dublin Marathon returning in person this year, and to once again have our Enterprise Rent-A-Car vehicles set to lead the participants over the starting line, and indeed finish line," said Brendan Grieve, managing director of Enterprise Rent-A-Care Ireland.

"This year will see the volume of registrations reach record levels, a testament to the excitement that is building already around the event.

"Our involvement with the event is of particular pride as we celebrate 25 years in Ireland this year. Enterprise is at the heart of communities across Ireland and we look forward to seeing everyone from across the country at the marathon event in October."

This is the sixth time Enterprise has sponsored the Dublin Marathon. Irish Life took over from KBC as the title sponsor on a three-year deal in January.

Commenting on the announcement at the time, race director Jim Aughney said the deal would take the marathon, now in its 43rd year and considered the fourth largest in Europe, "into a new era."

Enterprise Holdings, Inc currently operates in more than 90 countries and recorded global revenue of close to $24bn last year. In Ireland, Enterprise employs over 200 people in 25 branches.
