The vast majority of families are turning green to save their hard-earned cash in the face of soaring energy bills, a survey has found.

Homeowners are actively introducing more energy-efficient measures in their homes, as it was revealed that almost 70% have made or plan to make changes to make their properties greener.

Many homes' gas and electricity bills have almost doubled over the past 12 months, leading to people doing what they can to cut costs.

Some 38% of respondents said it is something that they have acted on, and almost half (48%) - of homeowners plan to make changes or add to those already completed as the energy crisis bites.

Less than a third (31%) of those polled have made no changes, and have no plans to, according to the survey from Aviva.
