The Office of Government Procurement has selected European Dynamics as the new operator of eTenders, the national electronic tendering platform for Ireland's public sector.
European Dynamics is a Greek software company which says it has annual turnover of c.€40m.
The company says the value of its contract portfolio exceeds €250m and that it employs 700 engineers.
The company provides e-government services in 47 countries, including Northern Ireland.
eTenders advertises competitions with estimated contract values amounting to almost €20bn annually.
The platform has a registered user base of 170,000 accounts across businesses, public bodies and others including researchers and interested members of the public.
The current eTenders platform is supplied by London company EUS Holdings Ltd, where the three directors are Norwegian nationals.
In 2020, the OGP was paying EUS Holdings, trading as EU Supply, €356,000 per quarter for the use of the eTenders platform and allied support.
In 2021, EUS Holdings had turnover of £2.6 million and reported an operating profit of £2.1 million.
Minister Michael McGrath said he is pleased that the OGP has selected a new suppler to provide the eTenders platform.
“My department is reforming the public procurement process to make it effective, efficient and accountable. The signing of this new contract represents an important milestone in the government’s ongoing commitment to building transparency and public trust,” he stated.
The minister added that the platform transfer to European Dynamics will be effected in mid-2023.
In the meantime there will be no changes to the current platform and procurement competitions will continue as normal.
The OGP said it is committed to working with all stakeholders in the transition to the new platform. Updates on this process are posted by the OGP on its website.
