The first Wendy's in Ireland is set to open at Cork's Mahon Point shopping centre in October, creating 50 jobs.
The announcement was made by the US fast-food giant's Irish partner, Corrib Oil.
Corrib Oil, which currently operates 40 convenience stores with forecourts and 20 fuel depots across 17 counties, said recruitment is underway for both full and part-time roles. Corrib aims to more than double its national footprint to 100 locations by 2030.
Meanwhile, Wendy's has said it plans to use 100% fresh Irish beef and chicken across its menu. The brand is best known for its square hamburgers, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, nuggets, and Frosty desserts.
Mahon Point, which has over 6m visitors a year, has more than 60 retail outlets as well as a 13-screen cinema was described as an "ideal location" for Wendy’s first restaurant in Ireland.
“Opening the first Wendy’s restaurant in Mahon Point marks a major milestone in our partnership with Wendy’s,” said Michael Dalton, managing director of Corrib Brands.
“We’re thrilled to bring Wendy’s to Cork, offering fresh and locally sourced menu items and outstanding hospitality to local customers, who will be the first in Ireland to experience the brand.”
Michael Clarke, managing director for The Wendy’s Company in Europe, said: “Ireland is a great market for long-term growth, and we’re proud to see our brand come to life here through our partnership with Corrib Oil.
"Their deep roots in the community and commitment to operational excellence make them an ideal partner to deliver the Wendy’s ‘globally great, locally even better’ experience.
"We’re excited to support the Corrib team as they bring Wendy’s fresh food and signature hospitality to communities across Ireland.”

While Justin Young, centre director of Mahon Point Shopping Centre, added: “To be part of bringing the very first Wendy’s restaurant to Ireland is really special.
