Drury, the strategic communications and public affairs consultancy, has announced the appointment of business journalist and broadcaster Gavin McLoughlin to a director role.
McLoughlin joins Drury from the radio station Newstalk, where he has been deputy business editor since 2019.
Prior to Newstalk, he was business news editor at the Irish Independent.
“Gavin’s experience and skill set will make an important contribution to our team and clients as we continue to develop and grow the business,” said Cathal Barry, managing director, financial communications at Drury.
“His track record in a fast-moving environment and ability to scrutinise, analyse and communicate clearly makes him an ideal fit.
“In the current environment, our clients’ requirement for assured advice and execution has never been stronger. Gavin’s addition to the team strengthens our ability to assist and support client companies and organisations with critical corporate, financial, and reputational issues.”
McLoughlin commented that working in business journalism over the past decade “has emphasised for me the critical role of effective communications for companies”.
He added: “I look forward to applying my experience and skills as part of a fast-paced consultancy, adding value to Drury’s clients, and helping them to achieve their communications objectives.”
Vincent Wall, who was formerly in charge of Newstalk’s business output, spent a brief spell with Drury a few years ago.
Drury’s clients include Activate Capital, Amazon Web Services, Bain Capital, Cairn Homes plc, CRH plc, DunPort Capital, Enterprise Ireland, ESB Group, FBD Holdings plc, Flutter Entertainment plc, Greencore plc, HealthBeacon plc, Henkel, Irish Life, MML Capital, Mars, Musgrave Group, Road Safety Authority, Science Foundation Ireland, Three Ireland, and Ulster Bank.
