Getvisibility has secured €10m equity investment in a funding round co-led by Alpha Intelligence Capital and Fortino Capital.

Sure Valley Ventures, who led the company’s seed round, is following on. Sure Valley contributed €750,000 to a €1.25m Getvisibility fundraiser in 2020.

Getvisibility was established by Ronan Murphy and Mark Brosnan in 2018. It has developed a product that helps organisations manage and protect unstructured data – i.e. data not held in databases – such as would be found in Word or Excel documents, PDFs, mark-up formats and other file types.

The idea is to collect, process and protect data that a business might have lying around on old computer files or hard-copy documents.

The company says it has enjoyed significant growth in regulated sectors such as healthcare, financial services and manufacturing, where there is an increasing need to classify data, protect it and understand risk.

CEO Mark Brosnan commented: “We are delighted to welcome AIC and Fortino as new investors. This Series A funding is important for our effort to extend our technology leadership in our Zero Trust architecture.

“Market response to our Synergy Pro and Focus product lines has been exceptional, and this funding enables us to build on the leadership position we have already established.”

Alpha Intelligence Capital is a venture capital fund with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technology companies.

Fortino Capital Partners, based in Antwerp and Amsterdam, specialises in B2B software investments.

AIC partner Terry Chou is joining the company’s board of directors.

“We have watched with great excitement as Getvisibility has set the standard for data classification with its context-aware AI-enabled approach. The company’s advanced Natural Language Processing capability sets it apart from other data security providers,” said Chou.

Co-founder Ronan Murphy said the company will use the funding to accelerate R&D and sales and marketing efforts.

“As enterprises urgently need to get to grips with data security, the machine learning capabilities of Getvisibility provide real tangible return on investment, better compliance capabilities and overall superior data security,” he stated.

Ronan Murphy’s other business is Smarttech247, which received €598,000 taxpayer funding in the form of Enterprise Ireland state aid in May 2020.

The Cork company has a focus on cybersecurity and is active in Ireland, the UK, Romania, Poland and the US, providing services such as penetration testing, incidence response and cybersecurity awareness training.
