The organisers of a new health and wellbeing festival in Dublin are hoping the two-day event in March will attract people sticking to their New Year resolutions.
Thrive Festival is a joint initiative of The Convention Centre Dublin and the producers of Taste of Dublin.
Thrive will take place in the CCD on March 30 and 31. The festival’s managing director is Avril Bannerton, who also manages the Taste of Dublin. She said that Thrive began as an element within Groove Festival, a music, food and wellness event, run in Wicklow’s Kilruddery House annually since 2013.
Bannerton (pictured) was brought onto the Groove Festival team following the success she had with Taste of Dublin. After initially running the event for the five years to 2010, new owners IMG convinced Bannerton to return and head up Taste of Dublin again in 2013.
When Bannerton became involved with the Groove Festival in 2017, she saw potential for spinning out its Thrive health and wellness element into an event of its own.
“My team has been researching public attitudes towards the health and wellness market for a number of years and is delighted to be adding Thrive Festival to the company portfolio,” she says. “Thrive at Groove was planned as an opportunity to test the market.”
Thrive will deliver various health and wellness programmes fronted by international gurus. There will be around 200 classes and workshops aimed at professional people aged between 21 and 40.
Although Thrive Festival shares its name with a number of other festivals overseas, the Dublin event is a standalone venture.
A one-day (one-session) ticket costs €47.50, while a weekend ticket (two sessions over the weekend) costs €70, not including booking fees.
